Quote from Mum

This was a fantastic experience at Pinewood Studios. The company we worked with were fantastic and so professional making sure we didn’t run over time and tired out the little ones. It was fantastic to see all the hard work that goes into the production and the amounts of people who work within a team. It was a great experience to work with fantastic people – definitely a memory we will keep forever.
The Process
Our client, a major production company, was on the hunt for a baby model to be digitally transformed into a superhero using some of the most sophisticated visual effects technology. Alfie was one of two baby models from our agency Baby Models UK (KTA) who were shortlisted to audition for the coveted role, a competition where, as they say, “There can only be one.” Despite the fierce competition, Alfie stood out and was selected for the role, marking the beginning of an exciting journey to Pinewood Studios.
Pinewood Studios, located in Shepperton, Herts, is synonymous with cinematic history, housing some of the most iconic films of the past few decades, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Terminator Genisys. For a baby model, the opportunity to work there is not only an honor but a testament to their potential in the film industry.
A Day at Pinewood Studios: Behind the Scenes
When the day arrived for Alfie and his mother to visit Pinewood Studios, they were met with a highly professional and welcoming environment. Alfie’s mum shared her excitement and the positive experience they had:
“This was a fantastic experience at Pinewood Studios. The company we worked with were fantastic and so professional, making sure we didn’t run over time and tire out the little ones. It was fantastic to see all the hard work that goes into production and the number of people involved in the team. It was a great experience to work with such great people – definitely a memory we will keep forever.”
The production crew was considerate, ensuring that Alfie’s comfort was always a priority. Their attention to detail and professional approach helped create a relaxed atmosphere, making sure the young model wasn’t overwhelmed by the process.
The Cutting-Edge Technology Behind the Magic
Alfie’s role in the project wasn’t limited to simply being in front of the camera. In fact, the most important part of his contribution to the film involved advanced facial scanning and body capture technology.
The production team used the same industry-leading technology that had been employed on blockbuster films such as Terminator Genisys and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The process was designed to build a digital version of Alfie, which would then be animated into a superhero character for the final CGI rendering.
Alfie entered a specialized photographic booth equipped with multiple cameras mounted on each wall in a 360-degree configuration. The purpose of this setup was to capture every angle of his face and body to create an accurate digital replica.
As Alfie’s mum stood beside him, her role was crucial in helping capture as many expressions as possible. The cameras, once activated by the technician, went off simultaneously with flashes to ensure that Alfie’s every expression was caught in high resolution.
The first step in this process was to take a series of facial scans. Alfie sat in a small room surrounded by cameras, capturing his face from every possible angle. This data was then fed to the Visual Effects Team, who would use it to digitally replicate Alfie in the film.
Next, Alfie’s body was scanned, and his mother helped hold his arms to maintain a standing position for the scan. This ensured the team could capture the full 3D structure of his body, essential for creating a fully functional digital baby model that could later be animated.
The Role of Alfie in the Film
Once the scanning was complete, the next stage was to transform Alfie’s digital likeness into a superhero character, ready to be integrated into the feature film. The VFX team took the data and created a CGI version of Alfie, allowing them to animate him to walk, talk, and interact with other characters in the film. With the help of these scans, Alfie would become part of an incredible CGI world, lending his likeness to the creation of a superhero unlike any other.
This process is an excellent example of how baby models are contributing to the future of filmmaking in ways never imagined before. The team utilized state-of-the-art technology to make Alfie’s digital twin as realistic as possible, ensuring the final animation would appear as lifelike as possible on screen. Alfie, though just a baby, was playing a crucial role in the evolution of visual storytelling in modern cinema.
The Future of Baby Models UK (KTA) in Film Production
This exciting project highlights how baby models are increasingly becoming a vital part of the film industry. With advancements in technology, such as 3D scanning, motion capture, and CGI, the role of young models is no longer confined to traditional roles. Instead, they are now playing an essential part in the creation of digital characters, taking center stage in the latest cinematic innovations.
For Alfie, this was a milestone that will stay with him (and his mother) forever. The opportunity to be part of such a cutting-edge project not only sets Alfie apart as a standout talent in the industry but also demonstrates the incredible possibilities that lie ahead for baby models in the future.
A Memorable Experience
As Alfie’s mum reflected on the experience, she emphasized how remarkable it was to see the incredible amount of effort that went into making a film. The sheer number of professionals, including the baby models UK & London agency, working together behind the scenes to make a production like this come to life was eye-opening.
She said, “It was fantastic to see all the hard work that goes into the production and the numbers of people who work within a team. It was a great experience to work with fantastic people—definitely a memory we will keep forever.”
For Alfie, his Pinewood adventure has not only provided him with a memorable experience but also a solid foundation for what promises to be an exciting career in the world of baby modelling and beyond.
As our baby models UK & London agency continues to represent talented young faces like Alfie, we are thrilled to be part of the exciting changes in the entertainment industry, where the possibilities for baby models are endless, and their potential truly knows no bounds.
