What parents should know

Editorial features normally depend on a clear, verifiable real-life story as well as suitable photographs. Families should confirm how their words and images will be used and agree any fee or expenses before taking part.

Personal stories can remain online or be republished, so privacy boundaries should be discussed before an interview. Names, dates and quotations should also be checked carefully for accuracy.

A publication may shorten or edit an interview to fit its available space. Keeping the key facts concise and supplying good-quality original photographs makes the story easier to present accurately.

For practical preparation advice, see our children’s photo guidelines and information for parents.
