Spotlight for Young Performers

A practical guide to eligibility, agent invitations, profiles, casting submissions and realistic expectations for UK families.

The essentials

What is Spotlight?

Spotlight is a professional casting platform that connects performers, agents and casting professionals. A young performer’s profile can show their photographs, skills, credits and media, while a registered agent can suggest them for suitable roles shared through the platform.

Spotlight is separate from Kids Talent Agency. As a Spotlight-registered agency, we may invite suitable represented young performers to join when membership is appropriate for their age, experience and likely casting opportunities.

Representation firstA young performer must be represented by a Spotlight-registered agency.
Parental consentThe agent invites the parent or applies on the child’s behalf with full consent.
Agent-led submissionsCasting information goes to the agent, who selects suitable represented performers.

The process

How young performers join Spotlight

  1. 1

    Agency representation

Your child must first be represented by an agency registered with Spotlight. Being accepted by an agency does not automatically mean Spotlight membership is required.

  2. 2

    An invitation when appropriate

The agent can send a secure invitation to a parent or guardian, or complete the application on the child’s behalf with full parental consent.

  3. 3

    Parent review and payment

The parent checks Spotlight’s current terms, price and payment options before completing the membership. Fees are set by Spotlight and may change.

  4. 4

    A current professional profile

The family and agent keep photographs, skills, measurements, credits and media accurate so casting professionals see a current representation of the child.

Presentation

What a young performer’s profile can show

A clear, current profile helps casting professionals assess whether a performer matches a brief. More content is not automatically better: accuracy and relevance matter most.

Current photographs

A recognisable headshot and appropriate supporting images that reflect how the child looks now.

Skills and experience

Accurate credits, training, accents, languages, performance skills and other relevant abilities.

Showreels and voice material

Useful media where available, chosen for quality and kept proportionate to the child’s experience.

A balanced view

What membership can—and cannot—do

Membership can

  • Give a young performer a professional casting profile.
  • Allow their agent to submit them through Spotlight for relevant briefs.
  • Help casting professionals review current skills, credits and media.
  • Provide access to Spotlight’s member information and development resources.

Membership cannot

  • Guarantee submissions, auditions, recalls, bookings or earnings.
  • Make every casting brief suitable for every child.
  • Replace preparation, availability, current photos or a good self-tape.
  • Influence the casting director’s final decision.

Eligibility and costs

Check the current details before joining

Spotlight’s published criteria require a young performer to be under 18 and represented by a Spotlight-registered agency. The current typical cost is about £130 a year or £12 a month; Spotlight sets the charge and its official membership page is the current source.

Kids Talent Agency may invite suitable older represented children when their profile is ready and membership is likely to be useful. Membership is not compulsory for every child: we can also submit suitable represented children outside the platform when a casting accepts submissions by email.

Common questions

What parents often ask

Can a parent join a child directly?

No. A young performer needs representation from a Spotlight-registered agency. The agent sends the invitation or applies with full parental consent.

Who receives Spotlight casting information?

The agent receives the casting information and suggests represented children who match the brief. Parents should keep availability and profile information current.

Will every represented child be invited?

No. We consider a child’s age, experience, profile readiness and the types of roles likely to suit them before recommending membership.

How much does membership cost?

The current typical cost is about £130 a year or £12 a month. Spotlight sets and collects the fee, so its current checkout price applies.

Can my child be submitted without Spotlight?

Yes, where a casting accepts submissions outside the platform. Spotlight can make on-platform review easier, but it does not guarantee an audition or booking.

What happens when a young performer turns 18?

Spotlight normally offers a move to adult performer membership at the relevant renewal point. The performer should check the current adult membership criteria and options directly with Spotlight.
