Getting started

Applying to the agency

Who can apply?

A parent or legal guardian may apply for a baby, child or teenager aged 0–17 who lives in the UK. We welcome children from every background; representation depends on current client demand and the suitability of each application.

Does the agency accept every application?

No. We review each application carefully and may limit representation by age, location or the type of talent clients are currently requesting. A declined application is not a judgement on a child’s ability or potential.

How do I apply?

Complete the online application form with current parent and child details and upload two recent, natural photographs. If an image will not upload, submit the form without it and email the photographs separately as instructed on the form.

Are professional photographs required?

No. Clear, recent snapshots are suitable for the first application. Use natural light, avoid filters and include a clear head-and-shoulders photograph plus a full-length image. If professional photographs would later help, this should be discussed without pressure. See our child photo guide.

Clear expectations

Representation, costs and Spotlight

What costs should parents expect?

Where agreed and permitted by law, the current Performer Profile Publication Fee is £10 a month, £55 a year or £120 for three years. It covers creating, publishing, securely hosting and maintaining the child’s acting and performer profile, including reasonable updates.

Professional headshots are normally expected from about age four and commonly cost £150–£250. Spotlight, when suitable, costs about £130 a year. See our agency costs guide and Parents’ Contract.

What commission does the agency charge?

The published rates are 25% for photographic work; 20% for other commercial work, usage and buyouts; and 15% for fittings, theatre, stage work and invoices of £200 or more. No commission is charged on an invoice under £200. Television and film rates reduce after the first series. See the full commission guide.

Is representation exclusive?

No. Kids Talent Agency is non-exclusive, so a child may be represented elsewhere. Parents should tell each agency about other representation and avoid duplicate submissions for the same role.

Will my child be invited to join Spotlight?

Suitable older children may be invited when their profile is ready and membership is likely to help. It is not compulsory for every child, and we can submit outside the platform where a casting accepts email submissions. The current typical price is about £130 a year or £12 a month. Read our Spotlight guide.

Opportunities

Castings, bookings and earnings

How does the agency find work?

We receive briefs from casting directors, production companies, photographers and recognised industry platforms. The agency matches each brief to suitable represented children and checks availability and parental consent before a confirmed booking. View examples in Completed Work.

Can the agency guarantee work?

No reputable agency can guarantee auditions, bookings or earnings. The client makes the final casting decision, and demand changes by role, location, age, availability, skills and appearance.

How much can a child earn?

Our usual basic session fee is £60 an hour with a two-hour minimum. Travel, accommodation or chaperone additions are commonly £150–£300 when offered. Commercial buyouts can range from about £1,500 to more than £20,000, but no amount or frequency of work is guaranteed. The earnings guide explains these payments.

What is a comp card?

A comp card is a concise casting profile containing selected photographs, basic details and agency contact information. A digital profile or comp card can help clients review talent quickly; photographs and measurements should always be current. Learn more about comp cards.

Working safely

Licences, supervision and privacy

Will my child need a performance licence?

A child under school leaving age may need a licence for a performance or paid modelling job. The person responsible for the production applies to the child’s local council, normally at least 21 days before the event. The council decides whether a licence is required, so allow time to supply any documents requested. Check the current GOV.UK performance licence guidance.

Who supervises a child at work?

If a parent, teacher or home tutor is not supervising, the child must be looked after by a council-approved chaperone. The production should explain supervision, working hours, breaks and travel arrangements before the booking.

How is personal information handled?

We use application and profile information to assess and represent talent, and share only relevant details with authorised staff and legitimate casting clients. Casting enquiries are handled through the agency rather than publishing a child’s private contact details. See the Privacy Policy.

What if my question is not answered here?

Please contact Kids Talent Agency before applying or accepting a booking. Include the child’s age and your UK location, but do not send sensitive documents unless an authorised member of the team asks for them.
